Clinical diagnosis:

The patient is 47 years old, from Ukraine.

A revision (consultation) of the obtained microscopic preparations and paraffin blocks was carried out:

23SP045591: Abdominal biopsy, gastrointestinal stromal tumor.

23SP046733: liver biopsy, gastrointestinal stromal tumor metastasis.

23CN007785/48278/22: Liver core biopsy: gastrointestinal stromal tumor metastasis.

Received samples:

For conducting an audit (consultation) were received:

1.1. One (1) paraffin block number 23SP045591.

1.2. One (1) micropreparation, stained with hematoxylin-eosin, under the number 23SP045591.

1.3. Seven (7) micropreparations for IHC under the number 23SP045591.

2.1. One (1) paraffin block with the number 23SP046733.

2.2. One (1) micropreparation, stained with hematoxylin-eosin, under the number 23SP046733.

2.3. Three (3) micropreparations for IHC under the number 23SP046733.

3.1. One (1) paraffin block under the number 48278/22.

3.2. One (1) micropreparation, stained with hematoxylin-eosin, under the number 48278/22.

3.3. Four (4) micropreparations for IHC under the number 23CN007785.

Microscopic description and diagnosis:

R181/2023

For the study, three sets of micropreparations were obtained, including stained with hematoxylin-eosin, and for IHC:

  1. Biopsy of the abdominal cavity: there is a cellular spindle cell tumor, without pronounced pleomorphism, without necrosis, morphologically compatible with a stromal tumor of the gastrointestinal tract.

Positive staining for DOG1, CD34, and Ckit confirms the diagnosis. In addition, there is a deficit of SDH-B, which confirms the biological characteristics of the tumor.

  1. Biopsy of the liver: the same morphology, but with increased cellularity. There is a corresponding positive stain for DOG1 and Ckit, consistent with a metastatic stromal tumor of the gastrointestinal tract.

  2. Core Needle Biopsy of the liver: the same features as in biopsy 2 are observed.
